Ingredients
Scale
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter (slightly softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1 & 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Add-ins
- 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 7 Oreo cookies (roughly chopped, regular stuffed, not double stuffed)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
- Cream the butter and sugars: In a medium bowl, use a spatula to cream together the slightly softened butter with both brown and granulated sugars until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add egg and vanilla: Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed butter and sugar mixture, stirring until everything is thoroughly combined and smooth.
- Mix dry ingredients: Add flour, corn starch, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Gently stir just until all the dry ingredients are incorporated; avoid overmixing to keep cookies tender.
- Fold in chocolate chips and Oreos: Carefully fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and roughly chopped Oreo cookies, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
- Scoop cookie dough: Using a large cookie scooper (about 1/4 cup or 4 tablespoons), portion out the dough into 10 equal-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 13 minutes. The centers may look slightly underdone or gooey—that’s intentional to achieve a soft, chewy texture as they will continue to cook slightly after removal.
- Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use regular stuffed Oreo cookies for best texture and flavor; double stuffed Oreos can make the cookies too sweet or soft.
- Do not overmix the dough when adding dry ingredients to keep the cookies tender and avoid toughness.
- Cookie dough can be chilled for 30 minutes before baking if you prefer thicker cookies.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- For a gluten-free option, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free baking flour blend.
