Ingredients
Scale
Egg Roll Wrappers
- Egg roll wrappers – as needed
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños, sliced (seeds optional for less heat)
- 4 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Frying
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)
Optional Garnishes
- Additional sliced jalapeños
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, shredded mozzarella, chopped cooked bacon, sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly blended into a creamy, cheesy filling.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean, flat surface in a diamond orientation. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture near the center of the wrapper but do not overfill. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold the bottom corner over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll tightly to seal the egg roll securely, preventing leakage during frying. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat the Oil: Pour approximately 2 inches of vegetable or canola oil into a deep skillet or frying pot. Heat over medium-high heat until the oil reaches about 350°F or you see it sizzle when testing with a small piece of filling.
- Fry the Egg Rolls: Carefully place a few egg rolls into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side or until the egg rolls become golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
- Serve: Arrange the fried egg rolls on a serving platter and optionally garnish with extra sliced jalapeños and chopped green onions. Serve hot with ranch dressing or spicy mayo for dipping, making an irresistible snack or party appetizer.
Notes
- For less heat, remove seeds from jalapeños before slicing.
- Keep a small bowl of water nearby to moisten wrappers for easier sealing.
- Do not overfill egg rolls to prevent tearing or leaking during frying.
- Use a thermometer to monitor oil temperature for even frying and to avoid greasy egg rolls.
- Leftovers can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to retain crispiness.
