S’mores Cake Recipe

  • Author: Zoe
  • Total Time: 50-55 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Description

This decadent S’mores Cake combines the classic campfire flavors of graham crackers, rich chocolate, and gooey marshmallow fluff into a delicious layered dessert. A buttery graham cracker crumb dough forms the base and topping, with a luscious chocolate and marshmallow center baked to golden perfection. Perfect for any occasion where you crave a nostalgic and indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Mixture

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

Chocolate Layer

  • 4 XL Hershey bars (4.4 ounce size each)

Marshmallow Layer

  • 16 ounces marshmallow fluff

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Butter Mixture: Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with both the brown and granulated sugars together until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
  2. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Incorporate the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition, then stir in the pure vanilla extract. Continue to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy, typically a few minutes.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, thoroughly mix the all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and graham cracker crumbs.
  4. Mix Dry into Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture and blend until all ingredients are evenly combined to form a dough.
  5. Assemble First Cake Layer: Divide the dough evenly into two halves. Press one half firmly and evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish to create the base layer.
  6. Add Chocolate Bars: Place three whole Hershey bars side by side over the dough base. Cut the remaining Hershey bar into four lengthwise strips and arrange these strips in the gaps around the whole bars to fully cover the surface.
  7. Spread Marshmallow Layer: Evenly spread the entire 16-ounce jar of marshmallow fluff over the chocolate layer, ensuring full coverage.
  8. Top with Crumbled Dough: Crumble the remaining half of the dough into small pieces and sprinkle them evenly over the marshmallow fluff. Lightly pat down the crumbles to help them adhere slightly.
  9. Bake the Cake: Place the uncovered baking dish onto the center rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown and the cake puffs up.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing it into 16 pieces. Cooling helps the layers set for cleaner and easier servings.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter for easier mixing and better texture.
  • Press the dough firmly when forming the base layer to prevent gaps under the chocolate bars.
  • The marshmallow fluff layer will puff slightly when baking but will settle as it cools.
  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, you can substitute Hershey bars with your favorite high-quality chocolate bars.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
