For the Rice Krispie Treats:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal

For the Salted Caramel Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 11 oz Kraft caramels (1 package), unwrapped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Rice Krispie Treats: In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add 4 cups of marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until melted.
  2. Mix in Rice Krispies: Stir in the rice krispies and remaining 2 cups of marshmallows until well coated. Press into a greased 9×13 pan and set aside.
  3. Make Caramel Topping: In a small bowl, combine caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 20-30 second intervals until melted. Pour over the Krispie treats and spread evenly. Sprinkle with sea salt and allow to cool.
  4. Serve: Cut into bars using a sharp knife and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
