Ingredients
Scale
Fudge Base
- 14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
- 3 cups white chocolate chips
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp peppermint extract
Toppings and Decoration
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
- Red food coloring (optional for extra swirl effect)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing excess to overhang the edges to facilitate easy removal of the fudge once set.
- Melt Chocolate: In two separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the white chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Heat each in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler on the stovetop for gentle melting.
- Mix Ingredients: Add half of the sweetened condensed milk to each bowl of melted chocolate. Stir vigorously until the mixtures are smooth and fully combined.
- Add Peppermint: Stir the peppermint extract into the white chocolate mixture thoroughly to infuse the minty flavor.
- Create Layers: Pour half of the semi-sweet chocolate mixture into the prepared pan and smooth it out evenly. Quickly pour half of the white chocolate mixture on top. Repeat with the remaining semi-sweet and white chocolate mixtures. Use a knife to gently swirl the two chocolate layers together to create a marbled effect.
- Add Peppermint Candies: Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies evenly over the top of the fudge. For an enhanced festive swirl, add a few drops of red food coloring on top and swirl it with a toothpick.
- Chill: Refrigerate the fudge for at least 4 hours or until firm and set properly.
- Serve: Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge from the pan. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor and texture.
- Be careful not to overheat the chocolate when melting; stir frequently to prevent burning.
- For easier cutting, warm the knife slightly under hot water and dry it before slicing the fudge.
- Store leftover fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Red food coloring is optional but adds a festive appearance to the peppermint swirl.
