Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk (whole or almond)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
Filling:
- 1 cup cinnamon sugar (mix 3/4 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon)
- 1/2 cup raisins or nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Warm milk and butter, then add to dry ingredients with the egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- First Rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Roll and Fill: Roll out into a rectangle, spread cinnamon sugar mixture, and sprinkle with raisins/nuts.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll tightly from one edge, cut into 12 pieces, and place in a greased baking dish.
- Second Rise: Cover and let rise for another 15-20 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Enjoy: Let cool slightly, then serve warm.
