  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp maple extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4½ cups (540g) all-purpose flour

For the Silky Maple Icing:

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (60ml) milk
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Dough: Preheat the oven. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, buttermilk, and extracts. Mix in dry ingredients.
  2. Bake the Cookies: Drop dough onto sheets. Bake until set. Cool on wire racks.
  3. Prepare the Maple Icing: Melt butter and sugar, add milk, syrup, and salt. Cool slightly. Add powdered sugar to reach desired consistency.
  4. Ice the Cookies: Spread icing over cooled cookies. Allow to set before storing.
