Ingredients
Scale
For the Brownie Layer:
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups chopped Kit Kat bars (divided into 1 cup and 1/2 cup)
For the Cream Cheese Layer:
- 8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for the batter.
- Make the Brownie Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and well combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly until fully incorporated.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mix into the wet ingredients and stir until just combined to avoid overmixing. Fold in 1 cup of the chopped Kit Kat bars gently into the batter.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together until the mixture is smooth and creamy without any lumps.
- Assemble the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the batter. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese through the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
- Add the Final Touch: Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of chopped Kit Kat pieces evenly over the top of the marbled batter for extra crunch and chocolate flavor.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake, as the brownies should remain fudgy and soft.
- Cool & Serve: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy the perfect balance of creamy cheesecake and chocolate brownie with crunchy Kit Kat pieces.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for smooth blending in the cream cheese layer.
- Do not overmix the batter after adding the flour mixture to keep the brownies tender.
- Check the brownies at 30 minutes to avoid overbaking and maintain their fudgy texture.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal of brownies from the pan and for easy cleanup.
- You can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate Kit Kat bars depending on your sweetness preference.
