Description

This Hot Chocolate Peppermint Fudge is a rich and creamy no-bake treat combining the flavors of semi-sweet and milk chocolate with festive peppermint and marshmallows. Perfect for the holiday season, it features smooth melted chocolate blended with sweetened condensed milk and hot chocolate mix, topped with marshmallows and a peppermint drizzle for a delightful festive flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Fudge Base

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (divided)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 packages hot chocolate mix (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups marshmallows (divided)

Garnish

  • Peppermint candy canes or crushed peppermints (about 1/2 cup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch pan with foil or parchment paper and spray lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt Ingredients: Using a double boiler, combine 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips, butter, sweetened condensed milk, and hot chocolate mix. Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture is melted and smooth.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Stir in 2 cups of marshmallows and continue stirring for 1 minute until partially melted and incorporated.
  4. Flavor and Mix: Remove the mixture from heat and stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract until evenly combined.
  5. Transfer and Top: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Press the remaining 2 cups of marshmallows onto the top of the fudge lightly.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the fudge for 4 hours or until firm and set.
  7. Cut Into Squares: Once set, remove the fudge from the pan using the foil or parchment paper and cut into squares of desired size.
  8. Melt Remaining Chocolate: Melt the remaining 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  9. Drizzle and Garnish: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the fudge squares and sprinkle crushed peppermint candy canes on top. Let cool completely to set the drizzle before serving.

Notes

  • Use a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over simmering water to gently melt the chocolate mixture, preventing burning.
  • Press marshmallows lightly into the fudge so they stick but don’t sink.
  • Use good quality hot chocolate mix for a richer flavor.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a nutty twist, consider adding crushed nuts in the fudge base before refrigerating.
