Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese Recipe

  • Author: Zoe
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Description

These Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese sliders combine the soft, slightly sweet texture of Hawaiian rolls with gooey melted cheese and optional savory ham or turkey layers. Enhanced with a touch of Dijon mustard and garlic powder, then baked to golden perfection, these sliders are a deliciously easy appetizer or snack that hits all the right comfort food notes.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls, split horizontally
  • 810 slices American cheese or cheddar cheese
  • 812 slices ham or turkey, optional

Seasoning and Toppings

  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened (for brushing)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or honey mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Split Rolls and Butter: Carefully split the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Brush the cut sides with melted butter and sprinkle garlic powder on the outside if using, to add a subtle savory flavor.
  3. Layer Ingredients: On the bottom halves of the rolls, lay down the cheese slices evenly. If using, place the ham or turkey slices over the cheese layer.
  4. Add Mustard: Spread a thin layer of Dijon or honey mustard on the inside surface of the top halves to add a tangy contrast to the richness.
  5. Assemble Sliders: Place the top halves of the rolls back onto the bottom layers gently, press slightly to sandwich the fillings, and brush the tops with more softened butter for a golden crust.
  6. Bake: Place the assembled sliders on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the tops are golden brown.
  7. Broil (Optional): For an extra crispy finish, broil the sliders for 1–2 minutes while watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, let them rest for 2 minutes, then slice into individual portions. Garnish with chopped fresh chives or parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can customize these sliders with dairy-free cheese slices for a vegan option.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic powder or mustard to taste for more or less savory and tangy flavor.
  • Using a broil step is optional but gives a nice crisp to the tops.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness.
