Description

Deliciously rich and moist coffee-flavored brownies topped with a smooth and creamy coffee frosting, perfect for coffee lovers and chocolate enthusiasts.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownies

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons coffee extract or 1 tablespoon instant coffee
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Coffee Frosting

  • 24 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Coat an 8-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or line it with parchment paper, then lightly spray the parchment to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt the butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the stick of butter in the microwave. Transfer the melted butter to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: To the melted butter, add the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well combined and smooth.
  4. Add dry ingredients: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder to the wet ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth and fully combined.
  5. Bake the brownies: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool the brownies: Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely before frosting.
  7. Prepare the coffee frosting: Dissolve the instant coffee granules in 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream and set aside. In a separate bowl, beat the unsalted butter until light and fluffy, then gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until fully combined.
  8. Adjust frosting consistency: Slowly pour in the coffee-infused cream and mix well. Add additional heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, if needed to reach your preferred frosting consistency.
  9. Frost the brownies: Generously spread the coffee frosting over the cooled brownies. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure brownies are completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting the frosting.
  • You can substitute coffee extract with instant coffee dissolved in a small amount of water.
  • Adjust the amount of coffee in the frosting to suit your taste preference for a stronger or milder coffee flavor.
  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean-up.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
