Puff Pastry:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Almond Paste Filling:
- 6 oz almond paste
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten (divided)
Topping:
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare pastry: Place the puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
- Make filling: In a bowl, mix almond paste, butter, sugar, and half the beaten egg until smooth.
- Fill pastry: Spread the filling down the center third of the puff pastry.
- Form pastry: Cut diagonal strips on both sides of the pastry. Fold strips over filling, alternating sides.
- Brush and top: Brush top with remaining egg. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Serve: Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
