Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls
For the Creamy Topping:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 tbsp sour cream
- 2 tbsp jarred salsa
For the Taco Meat:
- 1 1/4 lb ground beef
- 1 envelope taco seasoning
For the Toppings:
- 3 to 4 diced roma tomatoes
- 4 to 5 oz shredded cheddar jack cheese
- 1/2 oz bag shredded lettuce
Instructions
- Bake the Crescent Roll Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F as recommended on the crescent roll package. Unroll the crescent rolls on a cookie sheet and pinch the seams together to seal, covering the entire surface. Bake them until golden brown according to package instructions. Once baked, allow the crust to cool completely at room temperature before assembling the pizza. Optionally, you can cover it lightly with a paper towel and leave it overnight to cool and set.
- Prepare the Taco Meat: While the crust cools, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning along with the water amount specified on the seasoning packet. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and the meat is well coated. Set aside and let it cool slightly.
- Prepare Toppings: Dice the roma tomatoes into bite-sized pieces. In a medium bowl, blend together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and jarred salsa until smooth and creamy. This mixture will serve as the pizza’s creamy taco sauce.
- Assemble the Crescent Taco Pizza: Spread the creamy cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled crescent roll crust. Then layer the cooked taco meat over the cream cheese sauce. Scatter the diced tomatoes on top, followed by a generous sprinkling of shredded cheddar jack cheese. Finish with a layer of shredded lettuce, piling more cheese and lettuce in the center for extra flavor in each bite.
- Serve: Cut the assembled taco pizza into equal squares and serve immediately. This pizza tastes best fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to two days.
Notes
- You can use mild or spicy salsa depending on your heat preference for the creamy topping.
- For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey for the beef.
- Make sure the crescent roll base is completely cooled before spreading the cream cheese mixture to prevent melting and sogginess.
- Leftovers are best stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 2 days.
- Add additional toppings like sliced black olives or jalapeños for extra flavor.
