Description
A rich and flavorful creamy steak pasta combining tender seared steak with a luscious Parmesan cream sauce, perfectly coating al dente pasta for a satisfying and indulgent meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Seasoning
- 1 lb steak (ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Pasta and Sauce
- 8 oz pasta (fettuccine or penne)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter (divided)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Season the steak: Generously season the steak with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning, ensuring an even coating on all sides for balanced flavor.
- Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing the butter to melt and the pan to become hot.
- Sear the steak: Add the steak to the hot skillet and sear it on both sides until it reaches your desired doneness. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Then, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest to preserve juices.
- Cook the pasta: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente, typically 9-12 minutes depending on the pasta type. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the sauce base: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Simmer the cream: Pour in the heavy cream and reduce the heat to medium-low. Allow it to simmer gently until the cream thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add cheese: Stir in the grated parmesan cheese until it melts completely and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
- Combine pasta and sauce: Toss the cooked pasta directly into the cream sauce, stirring gently to coat every strand evenly.
- Slice the steak: Thinly slice the rested steak against the grain to ensure tenderness, and arrange the slices on top of the creamy pasta.
- Serve: Serve the creamy steak pasta hot, optionally garnished with extra parmesan cheese or fresh herbs like parsley for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Resting the steak after cooking helps retain its juices and improve tenderness.
- Use freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor and smoother sauce texture.
- Adjust seasoning in the cream sauce to taste; add more salt or pepper if desired.
- For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream but expect a less rich sauce.
- This dish pairs well with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
