Ingredients
Scale
Shrimp and Seasoning
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Sauce
- 2 tbsp butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1/3 cup parmesan, freshly grated
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
Serving
- 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or cauliflower)
- Fresh parsley or green onion, for garnish
Instructions
- Season Shrimp: In a bowl, season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt, black pepper, and paprika, ensuring each shrimp is evenly coated for balanced flavor.
- Sear Shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for about 2–3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the minced garlic to the same pan. Sauté the garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned, to build the flavor base for the sauce.
- Make Cream Sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and freshly grated parmesan cheese along with the optional lemon juice. Allow the sauce to simmer gently while stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly, about 2–3 minutes.
- Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the pan, gently tossing them in the creamy garlic butter sauce. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes to heat through and meld the flavors.
- Serve: Spoon the creamy garlic butter shrimp and sauce over warm cooked rice. Garnish with fresh parsley or sliced green onions for a burst of color and added freshness. Serve immediately and enjoy your comforting meal.
Notes
- For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or use cauliflower rice for a low-carb alternative.
- You can adjust the amount of garlic to suit your taste preferences.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes while sautéing the garlic.
- Make sure not to overcook the shrimp; they cook quickly and become rubbery if left in the pan too long.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently to avoid curdling the sauce.
