Coffee Mixture:
- 1 tbsp instant coffee crystals
- 1 tbsp hot water
Cookie Dough:
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup shortening
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground cloves
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Coffee Mixture: Stir the coffee crystals into hot water until dissolved and set aside.
- Cookie Dough: In a large bowl, beat together butter and shortening. Add sugars, cinnamon, baking powder, nutmeg, baking soda, salt, and cloves. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and coffee mixture. Beat in flour until combined. Chill dough. Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Line a cookie sheet. Shape dough into balls, roll in cinnamon sugar mixture. Place on sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool on sheet before transferring to wire rack.

- You can add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the dough for extra flavor.
