Description

Cheesy Chicken Crescent Rolls are deliciously flaky crescent roll dough filled with a creamy mixture of shredded chicken, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and flavorful herbs. Baked to golden perfection, these warm, cheesy bites make a comforting appetizer or snack that’s perfect for family meals or parties.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped (fresh or dried)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Dough

  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
  • Olive oil or cooking spray, for greasing the baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated and smooth.
  3. Prepare Dough: Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean, flat surface.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Take one triangle of dough and place a spoonful of the chicken cheese filling at the wider end. Roll the dough towards the pointed end, folding sides in to encase the filling securely.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place each rolled crescent on the greased baking sheet with the point side facing down to prevent unrolling. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes to set before serving warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly cooked chicken or leftover roasted chicken for best flavor.
  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to the filling.
  • These crescent rolls can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking; just add a couple of extra minutes to the baking time if baking chilled.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in an oven or microwave.
  • Substitute cheddar with pepper jack or mozzarella cheese for different flavor profiles.
