Cheesesteak Stromboli Recipe

  • Author: Zoe
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Cheesesteak Stromboli recipe features a savory filling of seasoned beef sandwich steaks, sautéed onions, and melted American cheese wrapped in pizza dough and baked to golden perfection. It’s a perfect hearty meal that combines the flavors of a classic cheesesteak in a convenient stromboli form.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (21 ounce) package frozen beef sandwich steaks
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 (13.8 ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough (such as Pillsbury®)
  • ½ pound American cheese, thinly sliced
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) to prepare for baking the stromboli.
  2. Cook Beef Mixture: Grease a skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Break up the frozen beef sandwich steaks by hand and add them to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess grease from the skillet. Add diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and set the beef mixture aside.
  3. Prepare Dough: Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough onto a flat work surface. Stretch it gently into a 12-inch square shape.
  4. Assemble Stromboli: Spread a thin layer of the beef mixture evenly over one end of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides. Tear 4 slices of American cheese in half and layer them on top of the beef mixture.
  5. Roll and Seal: Carefully roll up the dough starting from the end with the beef and cheese, pinching the sides together to seal the roll. Repeat the layering and rolling process with any remaining beef mixture and cheese. Seal the top of the roll securely.
  6. Bake Stromboli: Transfer the rolled stromboli onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the stromboli from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before cutting it into 1-inch slices. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding mushrooms and diced green bell peppers to the beef mixture before assembling.
  • Ensure to drain the excess grease from the cooked beef to prevent sogginess in the stromboli.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the stromboli for clean, presentable pieces.
