Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Batter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
Optional Add-Ins:
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
- Step 2: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until glossy and light. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Step 4: Pour cooled chocolate mixture into the egg-sugar bowl and whisk until fully blended.
- Step 5: Sift cocoa powder, flour, and salt over the bowl. Fold gently just until no dry streaks remain.
- Step 6: Fold in chocolate chips or walnuts if using. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
- Step 7: Bake for 24–28 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is still soft. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with moist crumbs.
- Step 8: Cool completely in the pan, then lift out using the parchment and cut into squares.
Notes
- To enhance the fudginess, slightly underbake the brownies for a denser texture.
- Experiment with different add-ins like mint chips or toasted pecans for a unique twist.
