Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough
- Store-bought pizza dough or homemade dough, enough for rolling out
For the Filling
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pepperoni slices
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch of salt
For Cooking
- Olive oil, for spraying
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Collect all the necessary ingredients including your dough, shredded mozzarella, pepperoni slices, Italian seasoning, salt, olive oil, and marinara sauce to prepare the pizza rolls.
- Prepare Dough: If using store-bought dough, let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes to make it easier to work with. If using homemade dough, roll it out on a lightly floured surface until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut Dough Squares: Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the rolled dough into 3×3 inch squares to form individual pizza roll pieces.
- Add Filling: Place a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese, a few pepperoni slices, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt in the center of each dough square.
- Seal Rolls: Fold each square over to form a pocket, then crimp the edges tightly with your fingers or a fork to secure the contents inside.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- Prepare Basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil to prevent sticking, then arrange the pizza rolls in a single layer, making sure they aren’t touching for crispiness.
- Cook Rolls: Air fry the pizza rolls for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure they cook evenly and become golden brown and crispy.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the pizza rolls from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute pepperoni with other fillings such as cooked sausage, veggies, or different cheeses.
- Make sure not to overfill the dough squares to prevent leaking during cooking.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, these can also be baked in a conventional oven at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes.
- Use fresh mozzarella for a gooier texture or pre-shredded for convenience.
- Spraying the rolls lightly with olive oil before cooking can help achieve a golden crust.
